Science Workshops

The Physics Factory offers science workshops for kids so that they can discover, invent, and build their own creations. These workshops, situated in the heart of high at-risk populations, are safe, productive environments that get kids off the streets, keep them in school, make them interested in science at an early age, and teach them practical trade and academic skills. By making mechanical and artistic creations from the parts of cannibalized machines, and by learning welding and woodworking, kids unconsciously learn practical applications of math and science. Though education takes many forms, this form is unusually fun and engaging. We believe this kind of informal learning will motivate kids to ultimately pursue careers in science, and at very least pull back the curtain of mystery as to how things work and how to fix them.
